Gin

VILNIAUS gin has been produced at Vilniaus Degtinė factory in Vilnius for more than 30 years. It is the only gin produced in Lithuania up till now. It is a strong alcoholic beverage made from high-quality rectified spirit and aroma substances. Juniper berries grant a special fresh taste to the gin. 

For the production of VILNIAUS gin rectified ethyl alcohol is mixed with prepared plants (juniper berries, dill seeds, corianders, and orange peels). Then, when the mix is heated, ethyl alcohol evaporates absorbing the flavour and taste of the plants. This is how gin of 45% alc/vol. of the bitterish juniper berries taste is made. Because of the characteristic taste of juniper berries, VILNIAUS gin is frequently used as a compositional part of many drinks and cocktails. 

VILNIAUS gin has been included in the list of geographic references protected by the European Union as a special Lithuanian gin.
